IDW Revolution Leads To…

IDW Revolution Banner

A Revolution comes to IDW this September involving Hasbro properties!

Revolution will be a five-issue biweekly event series, starting this September, that will bring together all of the company’s Hasbro properties: G.I. Joe, Transformers, Micronauts, ROM, Action Man, and M.A.S.K. (Mobile Armored Strike Kommand)). In its wake, all the series will kick off with new number one issues and a new status quo. But IDW editor-in-chief Chris Ryall insists this isn’t a reboot.

Here’s the IDW Revolution Checklist!

There is similar talk of a Habsroverse cinematic endeavor a la Marvel and DC Entertainment. However, in the comics its IDW that is working with Hasbro.

… A Brand New M.A.S.K. For A New Generation

I remember in the 1980s a multi-media sensation called MASK which stood for Mobile Armored Strike Kommand. Well, 30 years later, they’re back from IDW this November!

In the 1980s, from 1985 to 1988 MASK had an omnipresent comic book ad on the back of many comic books. Even if you never watched the Cartoon or picked up the toys, you knew of MASK.

MASK also had a toy line.

A TV cartoon from 1985 to 1986 with 75 episodes. The lead Matt Tracker also showed up in third G.I. Joe cartoon movie as well.

Even a comic book from DC Comics.

There was also a video game I just discovered.

Can lightning strike twice in 2016?

There are two big controversies with the new MASK neither of which I have a concern about. MASK still fights VENOM, aka Vicious Evil Network of Mayhem, in the new series, but MASK’s Matt Tracker is now an African American instead of his original Caucasian (leading to a sparsely supported change.org petition) and…
