Here is a quick look at some highlights on the shelves this week. A few big books from all the big publishers, plus there’s a modest stack of new TPBs and HCs, so without further ado let’s dive in…

New This Week:

trinity-01Trinity #1 – I was beginning to wonder when DC would launch another Trinity series, it seems like an obvious staple given that Batman, Superman, and Wonder Woman are not only the arguable leaders of the Justice League but also the publisher’s most popular and recognizable characters. Matt Wagner’s series is a fan-favorite and if you’re a fan of Francis Manapul this is a ‘can’t miss’ for this week.

Joyride #5 – Now an ongoing series! Just too much greatness to be contained in four issues. Find out what happens to the team when their surroundings begin to change who they are. Shall we say it’s something…in the atmosphere? (sorry not sorry)

Hellboy & The B.P.R.D. 1954 #1 – The next chapter of Hellboy’s “early years”. This has been a great run of mini-series for readers like me who are not caught up on all the current Hellboy and B.P.R.D. goings-on; most of these 1950’s series don’t require any previous reading, but I would recommend starting at “1952”.

the-wicked-and-the-divine-1831The Wicked + The Divine: 1831 – Thank goddess for this one-shot between story arcs, some series are tough to get through hiatus, especially when the last arc ends the way this one did! I believe this is the first time we see a previous godly-visit (except the first issue of course) so this will be quite a treat.

Raven #1 – It’s been awhile since I’ve read a good Raven story, and what better place to begin again than with the legendary Marv Wolfman (of Crisis on Infinite Earths and classic Teen Titans fame)

Batman #7 – Monster Men starts here! The first Rebirth cross title event goes to the Bat-family (come to think of it, Bat-fam got the first event in the New 52 as well with “Night of The Owls”) , and I’m pretty excited. I enjoyed Matt Wagner’s (again?) Batman and the Monster Men series and I don’t believe these creatures have been seen for awhile so it’ll be cool to see them return to the pages. For more of this “Monster Men” event, part 2 is in Nightwing #5 (out this week) and part 3 in Detective Comics #941 (out next week).
