Several series debuts happened last night. Tuesday prime time has been dominated by NCIS and its spin-offs for years making the 8 p.m. and 9 p.m. slots locks for CBS. For the 2016-17 season CBS changed things up a bit.
- CBS’ NCIS Season 14 airs at it usual time at 8 p.m.
- CBS’ Bull Season 1 debuted at 9 p.m. featuring ex-NCIS actor Michael Weatherly as lead character Dr. Jason Bull.
- CBS’ NCIS New Orleans Seaon 3 moved from 9 p.m. to 10 p.m.
NCIS New Orleans (NCIS NOLA) certainly has a better slot than NCIS Los Angeles has received bouncing around originally following NCIS on Tuesdays at 9 p.m., then moving to Mondays at 10 p.m. and now NCIS Los Angeles (NCIS LA) Season 8 will be on Sundays at 10 p.m. staring September 25, 2016.
Anyhow, Tuesday September 20, 2016 proved to be a solid night for CBS as NCIS Season 14 debut won the 8 p.m. time-slot with 15.63 million viewers, CBS Bull Season 1 debut virtually matched its lead in with 15.49 million viewers at 9 p.m., and CBS NCIS NOLA Season 3 debut at 10 p.m. won the slot with 11.17 million viewers.
Only one other TV show got more than 10 million viewers and that was NBC’s The Voice from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m. with 12.15 million viewers.
However, all returning shows on Tuesday night were below their previous season opening and in many cases their previous season finales. However, like with NCIS, they remained close to their previous season’s average viewers.
