There’s still two more months to go until Christmas, but little kids don’t want to wait that long to get in the holiday spirit. Once the decaying jack-o-lanterns vanish off the front porch, they kids are ready to be saturated in Santa Claus. They don’t care about Thanksgiving thanks for decades of the holiday being reduced down to a dinner you eat between trips to the mall for Christmas gifts. The good news is that younger kids don’t want to stop watching Christmas specials until Valentine’s Day rolls around. Which means that if you don’t want a holiday meltdown, you should always have Christmas specials on DVDs and not rely on a streaming service that will cut the programs before New Year’s Eve. Luckily there’s two collections arriving with recent characters enjoying the season with A Very Nick Jr. Christmas and Paw Patrol: Pups Save Christmas.
A Very Nick Jr. Christmas has five shows partaking in seasonal joy. Blaze and the Monster Machines‘ “Monster Machine Christmas, Shimmer and Shine‘s Santa’s Little Genies, “Dora and Friends‘ “Shivers the Snowman,” Bubble Guppies‘ “A Very Guppy Christmas” and Wallykazam!‘s “Wally Saves the Trollidays” & “Snow Place Like Home” bring a wintry mix to your TV screen. Hit the play all and you’ll have time to cook up a few sweet potato pies.
Paw Patrol: Pups Save Christmas gives the little dogs with cool heavy equipment a chance to get joy Saint Nick out of a pickle. This is a double-length episode so plan accordingly for bedtimes. Along with the special are winter feeling episodes “Pups Save the Penguins,” “Pups Save the Pop-Up Penguins,” “Pups Save Skye,” “Pups Save Sports Day” and “Pups Bear-ly Save Danny.” This is a fine collection to get your child if their big present is a puppy or a robo-puppy.

The videos is 1.78:1 anamorphic for both dvd collections. The transfers look fine for the animated episodes. There’s a holiday glow to the action. The audio is Dolby Digital stereo. You’ll be able to hear the holiday sound effects in the background. The episodes are Closed Captioned.
