Cyborg, a character elevated to Justice League founding member status in the New 52, has had an ongoing in 2015 and 2016 under each DC publishing initiative; first the New 52 and then DC Rebirth.

The DC Rebirth series was announced as a twice monthly shipping series. However, based on 2017 solicitations so far, it appears Cyborg may be DC Comics first DC Rebirth title to move from a twice monthly schedule to a monthly schedule.

When Dc Rebirth was launched, as part of interviews on the initiative, DC Comics Co-publishers Dan DiDio and Jim Lee were asked about what DC will do with twice monthly shipping books that don’t do well sales wise. The answer provided was that in some cases it could lead to cancellation and in other cases it could mean the book to monthly to see if that solidifies vs. over-saturates the audience.

As the most prominent minority hero at DC Comics the move to monthly versus cancellation makes sense. And, as someone who did not read the New 52 version of Cyborg, I have absolutely loved the Dc Rebirth series. So, pick it up even its monthly. There are a lot of great monthly DC Rebirth reads as well so its not just the twice monthlies worth reading.

It doesn’t appear that DC Comics has announced this shift to monthly, but the January 2017 and February 2017 solicitations are revealing.
