Here’s a quick look at what’s coming up in June 2017!

DC:

This month sees a few series hitting issue #25, and most seem to be good jumping-on points if you’re looking for more good reads.

Let’s start with the big news: Rebirth’s first cross-line summer event, Dark Days. I don’t like starting off negative, but I am a bit skeptical going into this. I wasn’t the biggest fan of Snyder’s later work on Batman, pretty much once Gordon took up the suit. And this event sounds like it’s going to be Snyder’s dark take spreading through the whole DCU. However, I do like James Tynion and his recent work on Detective, so maybe that’ll help lighten things up. And the art should be something to see.

Speaking of ol’ Bats, I’ve come around on Tom King’s run lately, especially since Bane became the lead villain. Issue #25 starts off a new with Bruce Wayne as narrator revisiting Batman’s greatest failure: based on the title, I’m assuming Joker? Sounds like it’ll be pretty good. Azrael is making a return in Detective #958, and #959 (post-Watchmen stuff) brings in Zatanna as well! Flash #25 and Green Arrow #25 start new arcs, and many Lantern’s loyalties will be tested in Hal Jordan and the GLC #22. New arcs also start in Harley Quinn, Justice League, Justice League of America, Suicide Squad, and several others.

Continuing on their DC/Hanna Barbera stories, I honestly don’t know whether to think the Batman/Elmer Fudd book is supposed to be funny or if I’m supposed to take it seriously, but Lobo/Road Runner seems like it will be funny. Jonah Hex and Yosemite Sam seems like a natural fit, as does Martian Manhunter/Marvin the Martian. The Wonder Woman/Tasmanian Devil and Legion of Superheroes/Bugs Bunny seem like they might be a bit of fun too.

Marvel:

I’m only getting a handful of Marvel titles these days, and Star Wars are about half of them. So Droids Unplugged and Darth Vader are on my list.

Gail Simone is a hit or miss for me lately (I didn’t dig Clean Room) but I’ll check out Crosswind for a few issues. I am a big fan of Howard Chaykin though, so Divided States of Hysteria is on my list. Kill The Minotaur and Winnebago Graveyard look pretty interesting.

I’ve been excited for Bitch Planet: Triple Feature since Kelly Sue and Valentine announced it at the Milkfed Panel at Emerald City ComiCon! This series will feature new writers and artists to expand on the world of BP. I’m glad to see Black Magick coming back, same with Shutter and Southern Cross. Copperhead #14 is the end of the current arc, and hopefully the next arc won’t take so long to come back. I missed that series a lot.

Dark Horse:

Alex de Campi’s Mayday was pretty good, so I’m looking forward to Bankshot. I’m always down for a Hellboy anthology/special, and I haven’t heard of a few of these writers so Hellboy: An Assortment of Horrors should be great. Other than that, it’s just typical Hellboy-verse stuff this month.

IDW:

Clue? Really? The game and cult-favorite Tim Curry film? Haha, yeah I’m in.
