  • American Gods: Shadows #3 – I haven’t seen the show yet, but I finished the book a couple months ago and this is an excellent adaptation so far.
  • Jughead #15 – Mark Waid takes over writing. I’m glad to see the Jughead/Sabrina storyline continuing, but I’ll miss Ryan North.
  • Luke Cage #1 – Genndy Tartakovsky’s recent series was a lot of fun, but this will definitely be a more serious take on Cage. If David Walker’s Shaft series are any indication, this will be a great book.
  • The Spirit: The Corpse Makers #3 – A great, more noir-style take on the classic character. I’m a big Francavilla fan, so this is a must for me.
  • Star Trek: The Next Generation – Mirror Broken #1 – I wasn’t planning on picking this up, but I started rewatching Next Gen recently. Seeing TNG in the Mirror Universe should be fun.
  • The Unbeatable Squirrel Girl #20 – Here’s my North fix for the week!
  • The Wicked + The Divine: 455 A.D. #1 – Of course The Pantheon was behind The Fall of Rome. Naturally.
  • Trinity #9 – New arc!

Other issues I’m looking forward to:

  • Archie #20
  • Batman #23
  • Batwoman #3
  • Curse Words #5
  • Justice League #21
  • Injustice 2 #2
  • Royal City #3
  • Star Wars #31
  • World Reader #2

James Fulton

  • American Monster #6 – Since Juan Doe has been doing other books at Aftershock lately (including another one this week), I guess we can assume that it’s Brian Azzarello’s fault that this book is so late. Either way, I’m just glad to see that a new issue is coming out.
  • 4 Kids Walk Into A Bank #4 – I love this very late title. It’s a completely hilarious story about four kids, who are only now getting to the bank-robbing part of the story. Brilliant design and characterization – one of Black Mask’s best titles.
  • Low #18 – Rick Remender’s most difficult series is also often his most rewarding.
  • Royal City #3 – Jeff Lemire’s work on this book has been very impressive. I am really excited about this very literary book.
  • Secret Empire #2 – I didn’t expect to enjoy Secret Empire #1 as much as I did, so I’m looking forward to this. Nick Spencer is a very good writer.

  • FLASH #22 – ARGH at this issue being delayed. The Button has been a hell of a crossover. I actually am behind on a lot of my comic reading, but I had been reading these issues as soon as they come out. Really curious how this all leads into the just announced “DOOMSDAY CLOCK” event coming later this year.
  • STAR TREK: THE NEXT GENERATION – MIRROR BROKEN #1 – I really enjoy IDW’s Star Trek and have been wanting to see many more stories set outside of the “new” Star Trek canon for a while. STAR TREK: WAY POINT has given us little bits and pieces, but MIRROR BROKEN is a series I have been looking forward to since they first announced it. Mirror universe for the win!
  • LUKE CAGE #1 – Glad to see David Walker doing more Luke Cage. His work on POWER MAN AND IRON FIST was great. Hopefully this book will get more readers’ attention. Walker has quickly become must read for me.
  • ELEANOR AND THE EGRET #2 – I have loved Sam Keith’s art since the first time I came across Maxx. The first issue of this quirky series really grabbed my attention because of the art, but the story was pretty fun too. If you are looking for something very different from anything else in the comic market, ELEANOR AND THE EGRET is a great place to start.
  • ARCHIE #20 – For months, Archie (the company) has been hyping the next arc in ARCHIE (the comic). Someone is supposed to die in this arc. I think this is a pretty weird way to hype up ARCHIE, but I have really enjoyed the relaunch, so I find myself curious about this anyway.
  • DAREDEVIL #20 – The current arc fills in the blanks on how Daredevil’s identity was made a secret again. It’s been a real odd story involving Purple Man and his kids, but Soule continues to write a really good Daredevil story. I hope he’s on this book for a while. Daredevil continues a long running streak of awesome runs.
  • GREEN ARROW #23 – In the last issue (maybe just last issue I read, like I said, I am a bit behind on my comics), we found out that the mayor is looking to rename Seattle as “Star City.” I thought this was a pretty clever way to combine Oliver’s two home towns. GREEN ARROW has been a little hit or miss since New 52, but since Rebirth it has seemed to find it’s footing. I am a long time Green Arrow fan, and I am really enjoying this book right now.  I also loved the Mike Grell covers on the last few issues!
