  • The Dying and the Dead #4 – I’m so happy that Jonathan Hickman didn’t abandon his very interesting series about WWII veterans and a secret race of immortals that live under the Earth.
  • Letter 44 #33 – Politics and aliens are the theme this week, as Charles Soule and Alberto Albuquerque’s absolutely incredible political science fiction series enters its final arc. This is such a good series!
  • Old Guard #4 – This new series by Greg Rucka and Leandro Fernandez is quickly becoming a favourite of mine. It fills the gap that Vertigo let lie empty for so long.
  • Saucer State #1 – Paul Cornell and Ryan Kelly’s Saucer Country was a fun Vertigo series about a Presidential election where the front-running candidate was an alien abductee. Now, it’s 2017, an honest to god alien is in the White House, and the original creators are back for a 6-issue miniseries wrapping up their story. Should be good.

Only a few I can’t wait for this week…

  • DC Universe by Mike Mignola – There are some great early Mignola works here, this should be an interesting collection.
  • The Dying & The Dead #4 – It’s finally here! Just shy of two years later, one of my favorite Hickman series is continuing. Though it’s only a limited series of 10 now, I’m glad to get any continuation at all.
  • East of West #33 – My other favorite Hickman series.
  • The Old Guard #4 – For my money, this is quickly becoming another Rucka classic.
  • Other issues I’m looking forward to:
  • Action Comics #980
  • The Archies
  • Batman ’66 Meets Wonder Woman ’77 #5
  • Detective Comics #957
  • Injustice: Ground Zero #12
  • James Bond: Felix Leiter #5
  • Star-Lord Annual #1

  • SAMARITAN VERITAS #1 – Image needs to do a better job making people aware of this book.  It’s a follow-up to THE TITHE.  During the EDEN’S FALL crossover, Sam suffered a huge loss and now she is out for revenge with everyone out to stop here.  This one almost flew under my radar, which is sad since I was a huge TITHE fan.
  • RAPTURE #1 – Ninjak and Shadowman team up!  Two of my favorite Valiant characters (and that is going back to old school Valiant).  I have been clamoring for Shadowman to come back for a long time now.  Rumor is a new Shadowman series will be coming out of this, so wins all around!
  • BEN REILLY THE SCARLET SPIDER #2 – The first issue of this series was a solid start.  Though Peter David and Mark Bagley were my first favorite comic writer and artist respectively, so my enjoyment of this book comes as no surprise.  Real curious where this book goes in the long term. Books about true villains (which is really what Ben has become) don’t typically last all that long.
  • BLUE BEETLE #9 – Last issue, Jaime decided to start using Ted Kord’s old costume in his efforts to reclaim the scarab.  As an old school Blue Beetle fan, this was awesome to me.  This series hasn’t always grabbed me as much as I would like, but it’s still usually a solid read.
  • DEATHSTROKE #19 – What deal did Dick Grayson cut with Deathstroke back in the day?  The Lazarus Contract crossover has been pretty good so far, though I would love to see Deathstroke kicking a little more ass.  It seems like he basically just beats up on Flashes.  And this has been a long trend with DC going back to Identity Crisis…
  • Archies #1
  • Action Comics #980
  • Batgirl #11
  • Batman Beyond #8
  • Detective Comics #957
  • Hal Jordan And The Green Lantern Corps #21
  • Justice League Of America #7
  • Kamandi Challenge #5 (Of 12)
  • Suicide Squad #18
  • Wonder Woman #23
  • G.I. JOE A Real American Hero #240
  • Highlander The American Dream #4 (Of 5)
  • Mickey Mouse #20
  • Powerpuff Girls The Time Tie #1 (Of 3)
  • Star Trek Boldly Go #8
  • Walt Disney’s Comics And Stories #738
  • Ringside #10
  • Savage Dragon #224
  • All-New Guardians Of The Galaxy #2
  • Captain America Steve Rogers #17
