DC Comics Rebirth Spoilers & Dark Nights Metal Spoilers: Dark Nights Metal #1 Pages Leak Revealing 2 Big DC Rebirth Debuts With 1 As Big As DC Universe Rebirth #1 The Watchmen!

Spoilers, Top Story

DC Comics Rebirth Spoilers and Dark Nights Metal Spoilers for Dark Nights Metal #1 follows.

Not only is a Batman V Superman moment in Dark Nights Metal #1 / Dark Nights Metal #2 (spoilers here) getting social media buzz, but Dark Nights Metal #1 has had pages leak before the book hits stands this Wednesday. I won’t go into the major story reveals involving Batman and the Justice League. However, I will bring your attention to two (2) pretty big DC Comics Rebirth debuts. One (1) of them will be as big, controversial and impactful as The Watchmen reveal at the end of DC Universe Rebirth #1 that we now know leads to Doomsday Clock in the Fall 2017.

Before I get there, remember that this all build from:

    • Dark Days: The Forge #1 (spoilers here);
    • Dark Days: The Casting #1 (spoilers here); and
    • Seemingly Detective Comics #950 as well as Nightwing #17 (spoilers here) are all part of the Dark Days: The Road to Metal along with Dark Days: The Casting #1.

On top of all that, we’ve got 18 of the 32 pages or 56% of Dark Nights Metal #1 (spoilers here) and we’ve tracked down 25 covers including variant covers for Dark Nights: Metal #1 (spoilers here).

So, who are the two (2) big DC Rebirth debuts in Dark Nights: Metal #1? Here they are.

(1) First big DC Rebirth debut – Kendra Saunders.

Art immediately below from Dark Nights Metal #1.

Kendra Saunders is the one that has Grant Morrison’s Multiverse (Multiversity) map and on the back of it is the Dark Multiverse.

You may remember, more recently, that there was a Kendra Saunders Hawkwoman in the New 52’s Earth 2 and Earth 2: Society series.

This new Prime Earth Kendra Saunders is likely tied to, or will be tied to, Hawkman as she has been in the past. Here is the intertwined origins of Hawkman and Hawkgirl / Hawkwoman as described by DC Comics in two parts.

Part 1.

Part 2.

Will DC Comics go the same route, have Kendra Saunders as the reincarnated lover of Hawkman?

(2) Second big DC Rebirth debut that is The Watchmen level – Daniel Hall, Dream, the current Sandman.

Art immediately below from Dark Nights Metal #1 final cliffhanger page.

In hindsight, this shouldn’t be a surprise. How did Daniel Hall become the Sandman, Dream?

Well the original Sandman…

…died and Daniel Hall…

…become the new Sandman.

Why do I think this should have been expected? Well, with Carter Hall, the Hawkman looming large over Dark Nights Metal, it should be no surprise that his grandson Daniel Hall, the Sandman, would appear in Dark Nights Metal #1.

Grandson you ask? Well his father is Hector Hall, Carter Hall’s son, who was the Silver Scarab and…

…later Doctor Fate, and…

…his mom is Lyta Trevor who was the Fury.

It’s not clear how much of Hector Hall and Lyta Trevor-Hall’s origins remain as-is in the DC Rebirth era. However, with Daniel Hall’s emergence in DC Rebirth at a minimum we can surmise his dad is Hector Hall and mom is Lyta Trevor to stay in line with DC Comics’ mega-popular, still, trade paperback business of Neil Gaiman’s Sandman opus.

Hector and Lyta were also both on Infinity Inc…

…a team that was essentially the offspring of members of the Justice Society of America (JSA).

Is that still their DC Rebirth origin? Time will tell, but Dark Nights Metal, with the reveal of Daniel Hall, could tie into DC’s current JSA Rebirth…

Part 1.

Part 2.

Part 3.

…that began in DC Universe Rebirth #1, as per the three (3) pages above, alongside The Watchmen reveal.

And interesting end to Summer and start to Fall 2017 ahead.
