DC Comics Rebirth Spoilers follow for Batman #29 with Part 4 of the War of Jokes and Riddles.
Despite the hugely anticipated Dark Nights: Metal #1 (full spoilers and review here) out this week, there are also big books out this week like Part 4 of the War of Jokes and Riddles in Batman #29.
The book opens in stately Wayne Manner as Bruce Wayne is seeking a truce between the Joker and the Riddler over a multi-course dinner.
The Joker and Riddler agree that Batman is a problem, but…
…the rest of the issue showcases their differences with…
…their own words guiding the way.
Unfortunately, for Bruce Wayne, Alfred Pennyworth and Gotham City, the Joker and the Riddler cannot reach a compromise and prepare to leave before the desert course; Alfred bakes great cakes BTW.
In a continued contrast, we see how the Riddler and the Joker treated their respective hostages before this dinner; these hostages were their insurance policies to ensure that the Gotham City Police Department (GCPD) or Batman wouldn’t interfere during dinner. In the Joker, like the rest of us, hates insurance policies.
The book ends without a truce and Bruce Wayne lamenting how his mother would feel about guests leaving before desert among other seeming…
…dinner etiquette faux pas.
