SummerSlam 2017 Spoilers and NXT TakeOver Brooklyn III Fallout follows.
At NXT TakeOver Brooklyn III, former 3MB (Three Man Band) member Drew McIntyre defeated Bobby Roode to gain his first world champion level title with the NXT championship; Adam Cole than made a statement making it look like Bobby Roode would be called up to Raw or Smackdown Live (spoilers here).
McInytre joins former 3MB partner Jinder Mahal who is Smackdown Live’s WWE Champion set to defend against Shinsuke Nakamura.
That leaves Heath Slater on Raw and not even being on the SummerSlam 2017 card.
However, both Jinder Mahal and Heath Slater commented on Drew McIntyre’s win and Mahal and McIntrye’s 3MB roots.
Jinder Mahal’s instagram salute.
Health Slater’s twitter response was classic…

To think, 2 of the 3 WWE top brand titles – NXT and Smackdown Live – are on former members of comedy act 3MB.
2 of the 3 former 3MB members have reached the top. Considering how stacked the “heavyweight” class of wrestlers are on Raw, I’m using Paul Heyman’s words there, its no wonder Heath Slater isn’t in the Fatal 4-Way for the WWE UNiversal Championship at SummerSlam 2017.
I can’t see Slater in the ring with Braun Stroman or Brock Lesnar, but perhaps with Roman Reigns and Samoa Joe. Certainly no Slater in a Fatal 5-Way for the WWE Universal Championship.
Congrats to Drew McIntyre on his first reign as NXT Champion and big props to Jinder Mahal for his continued reign as Smackdown Live’s WWE Champion; I expect Mahal to retain over Shinsuke Nakamura at SummerSlam 2017 tonight (consider that a spoiler my friends ;) !)
UPDATE – And, Mahal retains!
