Dark Nights Metal Expands With Dark Knights Rising: The Wild Hunt!

News release.

The World of Metal Expands in Dark Knights Rising: The Wild Hunt

During the DARK NIGHTS: METAL panel last weekend at New York Comic Con, in the midst of talking about The New Age of Heroes and the impact Metal is having on the DC Universe, the panelists announced a mysterious new Metal one-shot that will be hitting stands in February. Called DARK KNIGHTS RISING: THE WILD HUNT, it will come out between the fifth and sixth issues of Metal and will feature the evil Batmen known now as the “Dark Knights.” However, little more was revealed about the book… until now.

Landing in shops on February 14th, 2018, the 40-page Dark Knights Rising: The Wild Hunt is being written by the dream team of Scott Snyder, James Tynion IV and Joshua Williamson, and will be drawn by an art team that features Doug Mahnke, Ivan Reis and others. It will be set firmly within the DC Multiverse, as the Batman Who Laughs’ squadron of Dark Knights hunts down an unlikely team of heroes that are determined to save the world, including the Flash, Cyborg, Raven and… Detective Chimp?!?

Apparently so, though what the crime-solving simian has to do with the events of Dark Nights: Metal has yet to be revealed. Readers who have been following the Dark Knights one-shots and the “Gotham Resistance” tie-in storyline may have a sense of the role the other three might play, however. The Flash was the first hero to rumble with one of the Dark Knights back in BATMAN: THE RED DEATH, while Cyborg was brutally taken captive in BATMAN: THE MURDER MACHINE. The importance of Raven is yet to be revealed, though she did find herself under the control of the Batman Who Laughs in “Gotham Resistance.”

The Wild Hunt also promises to introduce an as-yet-unseen team of DC heroes to the action, and it’s one that makes perfect sense considering this event’s title—the Metal Men! Maybe they’ll have some thoughts on all of this dark metallurgy that’s been going on around Gotham, or where our heroes might be able to find the Nth Metal they need to defeat these Dark Multiverse nightmares.

We’ll have to wait until we’re a bit closer to Dark Knights Rising: The Wild Hunt’s release to learn how all of these pieces fit together, but until then, you can check out Mahnke’s amazing cover up and read the solicitation in full down below.

      The hunt is on!
