DC Comics Rebirth Cancellation Spoilers: Which 3 DC Rebirth Ongoing Comics Sold Worse Than Superwoman & Haven’t Been Cancelled Yet? How Will Justice League Movie Impact Sales?

News, Top Story

DC Comics Rebirth Cancellation Spoilers follow.

Superwoman has been cancelled as of January 2018, but it is not the lowest selling DC Comics Rebirth ongoing series. Which other books may be cancelled?

According to Comichron the DC Comics ongoing Rebirth titles with under 20,000 estimated units sold in September 2017 are the below.

    • Batgirl and the Birds of Prey #14 – 18,572 estimated units sold
    • Hellblazer #14 – 15,431 estimated units sold
    • Superwoman #14 – 13,343 estimated units sold
    • New Super-Man #15 – 12,431 estimated units sold
    • Blue Beetle #13 – 10,879 estimated units sold
    • Cyborg #16 – 10,385 estimated units sold

What do the three lowest selling books have in common and is it even relevant for a topic on units sold, popularity and profitability? Well, they are led by diverse heroes: a Chinese citizen, a Hispanic-American and an African-American. I’m not suggesting that is why they aren’t selling well. The quality is there with each book. I have read all of them for various arcs since the beginning of Rebirth. Are these 3 the next to be cancelled?

Also, as much as there has been speculation on DC cancelling its Teen Titans and Titans series, they both sold decent units in September; Teen Titans #12 sold 57,359 units and Titans #15 sold 35,858 units with TT tying units sold with Marvel’s Astonishing X-Men #3 and Titans outselling hot Marvel Star Wars: Doctor Aphra #12 in that month.

These are all monthly DC Rebirth ongoing series. DC Comics has tried to mitigate lower sales by moving 4 DC Rebirth books from twice monthly to monthly yet Cyborg still struggles to find a consistently paying audience despite his prominence in the Justice League.

Could Cyborg’s comic book’s sales jump with the November 17, 2017 release of the Justice League which features Cyborg prominently? We’ll see. DC may be banking on that.
