Spoilers, Top Story

DC Comics Rebirth Spoilers and Review for Batman #800 / Batman #35 follows.

Happy birthday Batman in Batman #800; a book with his fiancee Catwoman in the spotlight?

Batman is injured from his torture at the hands of Talia Al Ghul’s assassins who softened him for a battle with Talia that she won. AT the same time Dick Grayson, the first Robin and current Nightwing, and Damian Wayne, Batman;s son and current Robin, lament that he never told them that was engaged to or planning to pop the question to Catwoman. Damian is prarticularly upset.

Nightwing puts it into context for Damian; happiness is hard for Batman despite what Robin may think.

At the same time, Talia Al Ghul us now battling Catwoman. During that fight they talk about Batman and Catwoman believes she will always be second to his mission he began when he was a child to pursue justice; she loves him anyway.

Catwoman gets the upper-hand in her battle with Talia…

…as she gets to finally see Holly who has been Talia’s care.

She is a childhood friend of Catwoman’s who is a mass murderer that Catwoman took the blame for. Catwoman needs her to confess so she can be cleared and happy with Batman.

They all leave Casa Talia…

…where Nightwing and Robin acknowledge they know about his engagement and indicate they should have been told.

Interestingly Damian focuses on whether his dad is happy; Bruce Wayne says he’s getting there.

So…

Solid emotional and action packed storytelling on writing and art sides. Awesome. 9 out of 10.
