Dark Nights Metal Traps A Fantastic Four In The Dark Multiverse To Find Tom Strong & Spark A New Age Of Heroes!

The book opens with Mister Terrifics seeking out Simon Stagg who has used…

…Metamorpho as a guinea pig to access the Dark Multiverse.

Mister Terrifics gets the Plastic Man egg as he feels that can stabilize the situation between the fluctuating Dark Multiverse portal and seemingly insane and pained Metamorpho.

An enraged and out-of-control Metampropho breaks free of his shackles and is getting sucked into the Dark Multiverse portal…

…leading to him, Mister Terrific and the Plastic Man egg being pulled in.

In the Dark Multiverse the Plastic Man egg effectively hatches reviving Plastic Man who must quickly save Mister Terrific and Metamorpho.

Metamorpho apologizes as he didn’t intentionally go nuts and bring them there.

Plastic Man is also curious about what happened to him; Mister Terrific explains that his body is generates a super-conductive reaction to the Dark Multiverse. Batman and Mister Terrific tried to use him as a probe in the Dark Multiverse, but it failed and he cocooned into an egg for some time. Reacting with the Dark Multiverse reverses that and Plastic Man is back.

They decide to take trip in the Dark Multiverse following a beacon…

…that leads them to Phantom Girl, of Legion of Super-Heroes infamy, who…

…has been trapped for some time in the Dark Multiverse, but…

…the beacon didn’t come from her. It is from a crashed ship of some kind…

…seemingly belonging to Tom Strong of Alan Moore’s old America’s Best Comics line from Wildstorm.

So…

An awesome issue the best of the New Age of Heroes line. Ivan Reis and Jeff Lemire are amazing collaborators in a story that pulls you in from page 1. Highly recommended. This is the Fantastic Four – focusing on the fantastic – done right. Take note, Marvel. 9.5 out of 10.
