I wanted to go to New York. Not for the tall buildings or the Statue of Liberty or Broadway, no. When I asked my mom the eternal question, “How DO you get to Sesame Street?” She replied, “That’s in New York City, honey.” My mind was made up. I was going to Sesame Street. When Follow That Bird was first released into theaters, I was five years old. Now the movie is 25 years old and I’m still rooting for Big Bird just like I was when I was five. »»

Chase soon realized after that first season that he could become a big movie star, and that is exactly what he became in the 1980s and the early 1990s. He starred in such classic comedic films as Caddyshack, National Lampoon's Vacation, and the Three Amigos. But after his last mostly successful and funny film, National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation, and the failure of his short-lived late-night talk show, Chase's star burned out.
