Igor - Blu-ray Review

There’s not enough mad scientist action for little kids. Way too many times when an insane techno wizard is presented on TV, he’s forcing more nutrients into a granola bar or rice cake. They’re not out to destroy the world or make us live in fear of the dark. A majority of them are passed off as merely being misunderstood. Igor is a CGI animated film that dares to give us diabolical scientists who aren’t kind on the inside. They’re not adapting their spooky experiments to enhance a holiday like The Nightmare Before Christmas. Their goal while tinkering in the lab is to make the world fear their genius. »»

Igor - DVD Review

The story in the movie is fresh in that it's completely backwards from what we're used to seeing. We're used to seeing the bad guy with a good heart turn to the good side in the end. In this one, we've got Igor with a heart of gold desperately wanting to be evil. And it's not just the story that's good. There are some flat out laugh out loud jokes and the writing as a whole is great. »»

War, Inc. - DVD Review

Let's just get it out of the way that this film is always going to be compared to Stanley Kubrick's master satire Dr. Strangelove: Or How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb. It's just about as unfair to try and compare this film with that one as it is to expect Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull can live up to the expectations left by the trilogy that preceded it. OK, now that's out of the way, we can actually get down to discussing this movie and why it doesn't work. »»
