Teen soap operas have been around for years. It all started with the popular Beverly Hills 90210, continued with The O.C. and Dawson's Creek for a few years in '90s and 2000s, and then still exists today in Gossip Girl, One Tree Hill, and the updated version of 90210. While all of these shows featured storylines common to all teenagers, including pregnancy, there hasn't been a television series that specifically centered on teenage pregnancy. That was until this year when ABC Family took a chance on another new original television series called The Secret Life of the American Teenager.
