More Reasons Why Being Deaf Sucks/Rocks: Festive Music (11.20.09)

I sort of enjoy holiday music, not so much because it gets me in the holiday spirit, but rather because I work at a place that plays the same essential mix, year-round. No matter what time I get to work I'm practically guaranteed to hear either Indigo Girls or John Mayer within 15 minutes of arriving. ... »»

MGF Reviews Pete Yorn - Back & Fourth (06.18.09)

If it were possible for an album to "jump the shark," this album would have with a single lyric in "Social Development Dance", where Yorn plaintively sings, "I Googled your name in quotes, got no results." Back in the day, Pete Yorn would get some songs in the mix, as would Ben Folds Five. I always enjoyed when they'd get some play, but I haven't heard either for quite some time. There was also a time when you'd hear quite a few songs from Ryan Adams' Gold. Not that long ago, the soundtrack for I Am Sam was all the fashion. But lately, things have taken a sinister turn. »»

More Reasons Why Being Deaf Sucks/Rocks - A Mix for ME (10.02.08)

One of my favorite things about coworkers is the sharing of music. In fact, given my misanthropic tendencies I'm going to go out on a limb and say that it's the only thing I like about coworkers. ... During my time in the "702," I had coworkers who tried to sell me on U2 and Lil Wayne with a single mix offered to me by my closest friend out there. U2 and Lil Wayne. Does my move back to Baltimore make any more sense now? ... »»
