Chances are you will have heard this album a million times before, under different titles and by different bands. It's not a terrible release, per se, for this Belgian quartet, but it also never achieves anything above mediocrity. ... »»
Eagles of Death Metal are Jesse "Boots Electric" Hughes and, moonlighting from Queens of the Stone Age, Josh "Baby Duck" Homme. And Eagles of Death Metal are rock, bottled. Take a little '70s strut-groove cock rock, mix it with some '80s style hedonism, and you've got EoDM in your glass. ... »»
One of my favorite things about coworkers is the sharing of music. In fact, given my misanthropic tendencies I'm going to go out on a limb and say that it's the only thing I like about coworkers. ... That's when Death By Sexy (the album of the week) was released. I picked it up because I'd seen them perform on some show and figured I'd give them a shot. Sadly, that shot never happened because they ended up here in this feature.
Upon giving the album more attention I think that the reason I didn't connect with it was because way too many songs feature a quick upbeat tempo. I can't operate on that vibe for too long. I need my down time. I need some chill mixed in to dig it, or else it's just going to be a tiring listen.
