So as the cult of Apatow grows over Hollywood, we now have weird quasi-spinoff movies that technically have nothing to do with him but use the same players and develop the same themes. And make a buttload of money as well. This guy is clearly a friggin' genius and probably should get a chunk of the grosses for Role Models on general principles. »»

2008 was a good year for comedy. A great year if you’re talking about hard R-rated comedies. Movies about making a porno; about a guy trying to forget about his ex; and who could forget Robert Downey Jr. in blackface makeup. But the best of the R-rated comedies may have been Role Models with Paul Rudd and Seann William Scott. Greatest public service announcement about being a Big Brother...ever.
