Nope it’s not over yet. When I first read the issue I thought it was part six. Imagine my disappointment. This whole storyline has been lambasted on this site, so I’ll try not to focus on the negative. This issue finally reveals Amon Sur’s true nature, as though there was any doubt. Surprise, he’s not the good guy he wanted everyone to think he was. Hopefully Amon will survive the storyline and become one of Kyle’s rogues, because he really needs one.

While Winick appears to have a good grasp on Ollie, I have to take issue with Raab’s take on Kyle. He comes across as obnoxious. Here Kyle brags about being a great Green Lantern, yet he didn’t see Amon for what he really is. Isn’t it time for Kyle to lose the whole “brash” aspect of his personality?

The art is growing on me. Or maybe I am just getting used to its adequateness. Adlard’s art isn’t terrible, in fact he does a great job of facial expressions. Plus keeping one art team on a two-title crossover is a huge bonus. It gives the storyline a united feel. The cover however looked like it should be on a giveaway comic at the local gas station. Just put a tooth on Black Canary’s chest, replace the Green Arrow logo with “The Tooth Fairy”, and instead of “Target: Earth” put “Battles Plaque and Gingivitis” (I think Kyle would be Gingivitis, Ollie looks like a Plaque type of guy.)

By far my favorite part of the issue had to be the new house ads from DC. From the ad for “Arkham Asylum, to the ad for the new JSA trade, they were all great to look at. Plus there was a new DC In Demand page, so it’s got that going for it too.
