The Underground nears the end as Washout (near death due to his Weapon X Project organized power-up grade) makes a suicide run against the director, temporarily knocking out power to the compound so that Cable and the gang can storm the headquarters. Unfortunately Sabretooth, who fled the Weapon X compound in order to visit one of the Hellfire Club’s nudie clubs in the pages of New X-Men, returns home and catches wind of Cable’s entry into the compound.

Meanwhile Mesmero is dragged kicking and screaming to the Director’s Nazi Death-Camp of DOOM after the Director confronts him about his sudden loss of power. Madison Jeffries meanwhile makes a reappearance at long last in the hidey hole he’s been exiled into by the Director as we learn that he’s been bamboozled by Director into thinking Magneto has conquered American and after forcing W to lick his boots buck naked on live TV has started killing innocent humans, forcing the Director to set up death camps for mutants involved in the insurrection.

And finally we get the first hints at the upcoming return of Mr. Sinister by way of Frank leaving hints that Dr. Windsor might really be Mr. Sinister in disguise, using the Weapon X project to get new test subjects to experiment on now that Scott and Alex Summers have dumped their signifigant others for a part-time dominatrix and a poor man’s Samantha Brady.
