Since the new Outsiders series began, readers have wondered about Metamorpho. He looked different and had gaps in his memory. Things got a little more confusing with the cliffhanger from issue #6 that saw Metamorpho confront… Metamorpho?!?

This month’s installment reveals the origins behind the new Metamorpho and how / if / where this newbie relates to Rex Mason, DC’s original Metamorpho. I won’t spoil the specifics for you, but I do want to say that the origin makes sense and Winick roots this story squarely in established DC continuity. See, you can have in-continuity good stories!

There are many human moments in this Metamorpho odyssey for the two elementals. This really is the best Outsiders issue to date.

Penciler Tom Raney returns and really delivers the emotion and action necessary to make the touching and haunting human moments of the very different Metamorphos work.

This is one of those rare comics where less revealed in a review, the better. You really need to experience this for yourself.
