[Rock] GnR Update

Former founding member of The Replacements, and currently in the latest incarnation of Guns N’ Roses, Tommy Stinson is touring with a backup band, and then solo, through October 2004.

Last year, he borrowed some mobile equipment from the Pixies’ Frank Black, and recorded solo album Village Gorilla Head. This tour, which began at San Francisco’s Bottom of the Hill August 28 with opening act, Alien Crime Syndicate (also Stinson’s backup band), is focusing on material from the solo album. Cities he is hitting include Minneapolis, Chicago, Detroit, Philly, New York, Hoboken, and dates in England, Scotland and Ireland. The European leg of his tour, with Jesse Malin, will last through October and be acoustic.
