Audrey de Montigny Returns to the Canadian Idol Stage Thursday, Sept. 9 on CTV

2003 Finalist debuts English-language single “I Keep Crying” —

Toronto, Ontario (September 7, 2004) – She energized a province and captured the hearts of a nation. Now, BMG / ViK recording artist Audrey de Montigny and former Canadian Idol finalist returns to the stage that made her famous to debut her first-ever English language single. Audrey performs “I Keep Crying” on the Canadian Idol results show, airing live Thursday, Sept. 9 at 8 p.m. ET/PT on CTV.

As the last female competitor standing, Audrey de Montigny made it to the Top Four of the first season of Canadian Idol. Following the completion of the series, the 19-year-old resident of Ste-Julienne, PQ was quickly signed by BMG Canada Inc. / ViK.recordings. Her first single, the French-language ballad “Même les Anges,” premiered at Number Two on Canada’s Singles Chart and remained there for over seven months. It debuted and remained at Number One on the French chart for 11 straight weeks. Audrey’s second release, “Dis Moi Pourquoi,” was a Top 10 single whose video went to Number One on Quebec video channel MusiMax.

Her first full-length album, Audrey, with a mix of both English and French songs, was released in April of this year by BMG / ViK. “I Keep Crying,” her first English-language single from Audrey, is currently receiving airplay across the country. Photographed frequently for Quebec’s French-language media, Audrey continues to tour and perform throughout the province.

Canadian Idol continues to be Canada’s most-watched television series. Last Thursday’s results episode, in which 27-year-old Newfoundland singer Jason Greeley was eliminated, was the most watched yet, with 2.4 million viewers (AMA, 2 ).*

In this week’s “Judges’ Choice” show, airing live Wednesday, Sept. 8 at 8 p.m. ET/PT on CTV, Canadian Idol’s four-member judging panel have come up with a song list that both challenges and showcases the talent of the three remaining competitors. Each competitor will sing two songs, as selected by the judges. The song list includes: “I Want You to Want Me” (Cheap Trick), “I Still Haven’t Found What I’m Looking For” (U2), “Ready for Love” (India.Arie), “Nature Boy” (Nat King Cole), “What the World Needs Now” (Jackie DeShannon) and “If You Don’t Know Me By Now” (Simply Red).

In addition to the performance by Audrey de Montigny, Thursday’s results episode (Sept. 9) will also feature footage of the “hometown tours” that the Top Three embarked on several weeks ago.

The three remaining competitors are: Jacob Hoggard, 19, Abbotsford, BC; Kalan Porter, 18, Medicine Hat, AB; and Theresa Sokyrka, 23, Saskatoon, SK. Canadian Idol concludes with a live two-hour finale on Thursday, Sept. 16 at 8 p.m. ET/PT on CTV.
