MSN Entertainment Makes Emmy Predictions

MSN Entertainment posted the following article regarding the Emmys tonight:

Call us party poopers, but we simply can’t hop aboard the joy train that surrounds the 56th Annual Emmy nominations. Critics praised the creaky Academy of Television Arts and Sciences for letting some new blood into the race, but we’re talking droplets here, people.

Don’t get us wrong. We think the nods for “Arrested Development” and “Joan of Arcadia,” among a precious few others, show definite improvement for a voting body that seems stuck on “repeat.”

But come on, where’s the love for Lauren Graham of “The Gilmore Girls”? Or “Deadwood”‘s wonderfully wicked Ian McShane? Or the cast of “Angel”? What about “Scrubs” and “Nip/Tuck,” or “The O.C.”‘s fabulous father-son act Peter Gallagher and Adam Brody? And speaking of “Scrubs,” poor John C. McGinley has been robbed so many times he should call the police.

The sad fact is the nominations look a whole lot like they did last year …and the year before…and the year before that. The good news? With “Friends,” “Frasier,” and “Sex and the City” gone, and “Everybody Loves Raymond” heading into its final season, future Emmy lists will have so much fresh blood the Red Cross will come calling.

As for this year’s HBO-heavy awards, we’ve broken down the major categories into who should win and who we think will be played off stage when they start thanking their agent’s dog walker. (And we won’t bore you with a long analysis of the mini-series competition: “Angels in America” should and will sweep).
