With “The West Wing” potentially on the back end of its term, NBC has begun developing another drama set in Washington’s halls of power.
From the sound of it, though, the new project will be a far cry from the idealistic tone of “The West Wing.”
The show, from “The Shield” creator Shawn Ryan and “Charmed” writer-producer Mark Wilding, would follow a first-term congressman eager to climb the Washington ladder, even if it means doing things that aren’t strictly legal.
NBC has given a has committed to the script, which is set up at 20th Century Fox TV. The deal brings Ryan back together with NBC Entertainment president Kevin Reilly, who greenlit “The Shield” when he was at FX.
