[Roots] Folk Artists Get Together For Benefit Concert In NJ

The following is from folk singer/songwriter Mike Agranoff’s email list:

To refresh your memory, I’ll be taking part in a tribute concert next Saturday, October 2 called “Remembering Steve Goodman”. Steve was a wonderful songwriter and outstanding performer, perhaps best known for his “City of New Orleans”, made popular by Arlo Guthrie’s recording. He was only in his 30’s when he died 20 years ago of leukemia. The concert will feature about a dozen performers, some of which played and wrote with Steve, and some among today’s most active and popular successors to Steve’s legacy. I feel honored to be among these luminaries. All proceeds from this show will benefit the Steve Goodman Fund for Leukemia Research.

This was to have been a $20 ticket. As of this week, that has been revised, and admissions will be a free-will donation of whatever you feel appropriate for the show and the cause. Reservations and tickets are available at www.sanctuaryconcerts.org. (I’m not sure how they are going to deal with free-will donations on the web, but you can certainly make reservations.

This really looks to be a memorable show. You would be well advised to make it out there.

Details below. Hope to see you.

In addition to myself, performers include GrooveLily, George Wurzbach of Modern Man, Erik Frandsen, Eric Schwartz, Saul Broudy, Steve’s frequent co-writer Steve Burgh (“Banana Republics”), Laurie MacAllister, and Heather Wood. Steve’s original backup band (Saul Broudy, Steve Burgh, Dennis Gormley) will rock the house. Steve’s family members and many of his dear friends will also join us. Expect some surprise guests as well!
