CBS Hopes To Make Davis An Accidental TV Star

Oscar winner Geena Davis is hoping for her first regular small screen gig since 2000’s short-lived “The Geena Davis Show.” The actress has signed a talent deal with CBS.

Under the pact, CBS will develop a series around Davis. Although it’s unclear whether the network would be concentrating on a comedy or drama for the actress, the goal is to have the new show ready for next season.

Davis goes way back with new CBS Entertainment President Nina Tassler. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the were friends when they went to college at Boston University.

In 1989 Davis won her supporting actress Oscar for “The Accidental Tourist. She was also nominated for an Oscar for her performance in “Thelma & Louise” and earned Golden Globe nominations for “A League of Their Own” and “Speechless.”

Her self-titled family comedy came from Terri Minsky (“Less than Perfect”) and aired for only 22 episodes on ABC. Back in January, Davis had a rare guest starring role in NBC’s “Will & Grace.”
