John “J.P.” Palyok’s hometown newspaper, The Post-Tribune of Merrillville, Ind. published the following article in its Friday, Oct. 1 edition:

HOBART — Hobart native John “J.P.” Palyok’s time as a castaway on the popular reality game show “Survivor: Vanuatu” came to an end Thursday night. J.P. was voted off of the island by members of his tribe during the third episode of this season’s program.

A group of friends and family convened at Hobart’s End Zone bar to cheer the hometown hero on as he attempted to navigate his way through the challenges and the plots of his fellow castaways. They have been meeting there every Thursday for the past three weeks and were visibly upset to have J.P.’s time on the island cut short.
