Prolific film and television producer Jerry Bruckheimer has enlisted feature scribe David McKenna to write the pilot for “E-Ring.” The new defense-themed drama is being produced by Jerry Bruckheimer Television and Warner Bros. Television for NBC.

Ken Robinson, a former Army Green Beret and current CNN intelligence consultant will co-create the series with McKenna. According to The Hollywood Reporter, “E-Ring” will take a “West Wing”-style look at the Pentagon

NBC has made what is described as a “hefty commitment” to the series. Robinson, who pitched the idea of doing a national security series to Bruckheimer, will produce “E-Ring” with Jonathan Littman, Bruckheimer and McKenna executive producing.

McKenna’s feature film credits begin with 1998’s “American History X” and stretch through the likes of “Body Shots,” “Blow,” the Sylvester Stallone remake of “Get Carter” and the 2003 adaptation of “S.W.A.T.”
