NBC has signed two more actors for its next “Law & Order” show, subtitled “Trial by Jury.”
Former “Third Watch” regular Amy Carlson and ex-“Oz” inmate Kirk Acevedo have joined Jerry Orbach and Bebe Neuwirth on the show, scheduled for midseason. Fred Thompson, who plays District Attorney Arthur Branch on “Law & Order,” will also be featured in the new show.
Carlson will play Kelly Gaffney, the daughter of a politically connected family who works as an assistant district attorney under Neuwirth’s ADA Tracy Kibre. In addition to “Third Watch,” Carlson starred in the USA series “Peacemakers” and the NBC soap “Another World.”
Acevedo, whose credits also include “Band of Brothers” and “The Thin Red Line,” will play a Detective Dan Salazar, who’s assigned to the DA’s office after being wounded while on duty. He’s partnered with Detective Lennie Briscoe (Orbach, reprising his “Law & Order” role).
Both actors have a connection to “L&O” creator Dick Wolf. Acevedo guest-starred in several episodes of Wolf’s FOX series “New York Undercover,” and Carlson has appeared on both “Law & Order” and “Law & Order: SVU.”
