Alan Grier, familiar to most viewers from his lengthy tenure on the FOX sketch show “In Living Color,” is returning to his roots with “The Davey Gee Show.”

According to The Hollywood Reporter, FOX has ordered a pilot presentation for “Gee,” which has been in development at Touchstone TV. The series, written by Grier and “MADtv” vet Tim Hightower, will feature sketch comedy in the “Living Color” vein. In addition to writing the pilot, Grier and Hightower are expected to star along with a small group of ensemble performers.

In addition to “In Living Color,” Grier’s series credits include a stint on ABC’s “Life With Bonnie” and time on “DAG” and “Damon.” His film work dates back to “A Soldier’s Story” and stretches through “McHale’s Navy” and most recently “Baadasssss!”

In a more serious vein, Grier will next be seen in the Kevin Bacon pedophile feature “The Woodsmen.” He’ll tap into lighter material for a part in the NBC telefilm “The Muppets’ Wizard of Oz.”
