OK, Velocity time. We all know that WWE has been on a releasin’ rampage lately, with 10 gone and at least 2 more to go. Already, we can expect to not see the following on Velocity ever again, or at least for a long while in some cases:
Johnny Stamboli
Billy Gunn
Rico (Last match tonight)
All’s I got to say to all of this craziness is this: WWE, don’t release Val Venis, you bastards.
Oh yeah, and I got SmackDown vs. RAW this week. Screw all the little babies that whine about missing stuff; the game is awesome. Deal with it, bitches.
WWE Velocity- November 5th, 2004
-We open up with Josh reminding us that we are 8 days away from Survivor Series, as Spike Dudley and his shit-pants make their way down to the ring. Following the Boss is Chavo, as it seems we’re set to see some cruiser action.
-Chavo Guerrero vs. Spike Dudley. This is apparently non-title. Jabbering by Spike to start. Spike then berates the crowd. Lockup, armdrag by Chavo, and some stalling. Test of strength, Chavo gets the upper hand and takes Spike into the turnbuckle. Spike scurries to the outside. Back in, lockup, Chavo is taken into the corner, but fights out and chokes Spike on the middle rope. Clothesline gets 2 for Chavo. More shots by Chavo, but he gets tossed to the outside by Spike. Outside, Spike with some offense, gets a 2 count back inside. Some more shots by Spike, followed by a snapmare and a big knee to the chest/throat gets 2. Choking by Spike, and then his little corner stomping. Spike locks on a sleeper, but Chavo fights out. Backslide by Chavo gets 2, but Spike gets up and delivers a clothesline for 2, and it’s rest hold time. Chavo is able to will his way up, and reverses a suplex. Punches by Chavo, backdrop, 2 clotheslines, and a spinebuster for 2. Back up, Spike rakes the eyes and dishes out an inverted atomic drop, but Chavo comes off the ropes with a forearm shot for 2. Spike’s sent into the corner but he rebounds with his diving headbutt. Dudley Dog attempted, but Chavo pushes Spike into the corner, and the Gory Bomb finishes this in 7, 8 minutes. ***.
-We’re told that tonight, the recently released Rico will take on Billy Kidman.
-Also tonight, Eddie Guerrero will take on Danny Basham.
-Heidenreich/Undertaker promo.
-Back here on Velocity, we get a recap of this past week’s Tough Enough. Here they had a little squat thrust competition, with the winner, Chris Miraki or somethin’, getting the opportunity to take on Kurt Angle. Miraki is soundlessly owned. Afterwards, the UFC guy gives Angle a bit of a challenge but ultimately gets pinned too. Angle then tells the contestants that none of them look ‘tough enough’. Later on in the show, Torrie Wilson came out to tell them that next week they’ll have to participate in a friggin’ ‘sex challenge’. How nice.
-We’re told that Kurt Angle will take on the Big Show on this coming week’s SmackDown.
-Up next, Rico and Kidman.
-Josh thanks all of those who ‘Smacked Down Their Vote.’
-Ah, and here comes Kidman with his freakin’ stylishly awesome ring jacket, set to take on Rico, in Rico’s last WWE television appearance. A shame too, as Rico, behind the gimmick, was talented.
-Rico vs. Kidman. Kidman starts off by looking reluctant. Lockup, hammerlock by Kidman, fireman’s carry by Rico. Lockup, Kidman takes Rico into the corner, but Rico fights out and is able to get in some of trademark”¦. Homoerotic moves. Leglock by Rico, but Kidman gets to the ropes and knees Rico. Rico takes him down, rolls around him, and ‘goes behind’, to promptly frighten off Kidman. Couple takedowns by Rico, but he’s blocked from going up top and is rammed into the turnbuckle and out of the ring. Back in, Kidman gets a 2 count. Rest hold by Kidman. Rico fights out, and gets a sunset flip for 2 but runs into a dropkick for 2. Rico is whipped hard into the corner for a 2 count. Rear chinlock by Kidman, but the crowd wills Rico back up to his feet and he jawbreakers out. Rico starts to fire up here, and hits various shots on Kidman. Roundhouse kick gets a 2 count. Kidman with a knee to the gut, but a bulldog attempt fails, and Kidman gets flapjacked. Another kick gets 2 for Rico. Little side back kick by Rico, who goes for his little arm-twist back kick. Kidman reverses this into a roll-up while holding the ropes to get the win. Afterwards, Kidman floors Rico and sets him up for the SSP, but Chavo runs out to make the save and send Kidman towards the locker room. **.
-We’re reminded that tonight we’ll see Eddie Guerrero and Danny Basham, one on one.
-DOR ad.
-And now, the WWE Rewind: Orlando and JBL attacking Booker after Booker’s rematch with Orlando.
-Now we get a recap of Josh/Booker vs. JBL/Orlando from SmackDown. Of course, Book and Josh win the match after Booker pins Orlando.
-We’re reminded that Booker/JBL will take place at Survivor Series. The Survivor Series card thus far is then run down.
-Up next, Guerrero/Basham.
-SmackDown magazine ad.
-And now, the WWE Monster Job of the Week: Big Show’s destruction of the Dudley Boyz.
-Finally, main event time:
-Eddie Guerrero vs. Danny Basham. Eddie tells Doug to kiss his ass. Lockup, hammerlock to snapmare for a 2 count by Eddie. Eddie with 2 more snapmares and pin attempts. Lockup, headlock by Danny, reversal by Eddie, but he’s taken down. Test of strength by both men, broken up by a kick by Danny. Shoulderblock by Danny, but Eddie hits a high dropkick for a near fall. Some shots by Eddie, who then drags Danny’s face across the top rope. Eddie tells the ref to look out for Doug, then steps on Danny’s face. Eddie with sorta sleeper/camel clutch, but Danny fights out. Eddie charges Danny and gets backdropped over the top rope. Eddie appears to have hurt his knee, as we take a quick commercial break.
-SvR ad.
-Back here on Velocity, Danny has the advantage, but Eddie breaks out of a rest hold but gets clotheslined. Both men trade shots, but Danny takes the advantage and backdrops Eddie for 2. Resthold by Danny, Eddie powers out and fireman carries Danny over the top rope. Back in, school boy by Eddie gets a 2 count. Eddie with a plethora of punches, and a front dropkick. 3 Amigos blocked into a Baldo Bomb by Danny for a close 2. Danny misses a splash in the corner and Eddie connects with the 3 Amigos. Up top, and Eddie hits the frog splash, 1-2-3, it’s over. After the match, Eddie celebrates and leaves. Doug gets in the ring and tells Danny that he’s carrying their team, basically berating Danny. **1/2.
My Thoughts: Decent show this week. Definitely like how they’re getting big names on Velocity each week; RVD, Kurt, Booker, and now Eddie. Hopefully Velocity can keep on getting better.
