Episode 5.08: The Party’s Over

Richard and Emily reunite in order to find a suitable young man for Rory after learning of her relationship with Dean; Luke’s culinary oeuvre intrigues Lorelai, but their dinner is ruined by his new neighbors—T.J. and Liz (Michael DeLuise, Kathleen Wilhoite). Also, Zack is read the riot act by Mrs. Kim, whose intimidation of Kyon also irks Lane.

Emily and Richard throw a party to introduce Rory to all the eligible sons of their Yale alumni friends, leading Dean to question his place in Rory’s world.

Rory is touched when Emily and Richard throw a party to introduce her to their Yale Alumni friends, but it soon becomes obvious that their ulterior motive is to find her a suitable husband. When Dean arrives at the party to pick Rory up, he realizes he doesn’t belong in her privileged world. Meanwhile, Luke cooks a romantic dinner for Lorelai, but their evening is interrupted by a feuding Liz (Kathleen Wilhoite) and T.J. (Michael DeLuise).

Zach is at the Stars Hollow newsstand where he inquires where is this month’s guitar magazine because he wasn’t done reading it. He is outradged when he’s told that he must buy the magazine to read it. Mrs. Kim comes in from behind Zach and seems in not such a good mood. Emily is throwing a party. Richard is in attendance and introduces Rory to a couple and their son who’ll go at Yale next year. Later, Richard and Emily introduce Rory to yet another couple who also a son. Rory soon notices a pattern: couples with each a twenty-something son. Rory is the only woman in her twenties… making her the belle of the ball! Will Logan come to her rescue? Lorelai calls the Gilmore’s residence to be answered by yet another new maid who, this time, doesn’t speak English.
