Director Martin Campbell is in negotiations to take over the next 007 flick, announced The Hollywood Reporter yesterday.
Campbell was responsible for reviving the Bond franchise and introducing Pierce Brosnan as the super spy. He directed the 1995 hit Goldeneye. Should both parties reach an agreement, Bond 21 would definitely be back on track for its June 2006 targeted release.
Scribes Neal Purvis and Robert Wade, collaborators on the last two Bonds, Die Another Day and The World is Not Enough, are also coming back. Interestingly enough, the new script is said to be exactly what Brosnan has advocated in the last few months, a return to the earlier elements of the Bond films that will center more on story and characters than effects-packed visuals.
