If you’re reading this, then you must have too much time on your hands. Y’know the economy is allegedly picking up, you may want to find a second job. That job could provide you with a little extra spending cash, and they do say the holidays are right around the corner.

Well I tried to do my civic duty. Let’s get on with the banality.

Viewed Last Week

Jack & Bobby – Thanks to the magic of VCR Technology® I was able to watch two epidsodes. This week’s episode I actually got my roommate to watch. I felt like such teenage girl when I explained to her all the intricacies and nuances of the relationships between the characters. I think that she might be down for the rest of the season. Especially when I explained how Bobby assaulted Jack’s game last week. I mean, my man Jack was about to shag, with his virgin girlfriend and Bobby comes out of nowhere and pulls the ultimate c&*$block. I was appalled, yet oddly entertained. (On a sidenote, my roommate and I were both curious do white kids actually talk to their parents like the do on Jack & Bobby and Desperate Housewives? Maybe it’s a “cultural thing”, but it’s nutty the amount of disrespect the kids on those shows show their mothers.)

Real Time With Bill Maher – A season finale filled with suspense, comedy and meltdowns. It had it’s funny parts, but some where just scary. Like that whole Alan Simpson tirade. Now I understand that to a man of his age, technology can seem “intimidating” but the guy flew off the handle. I can’t recall the last time I saw an elected official curse. In his defense, it was probably daunting and disorienting, but he didn’t handle it well. Sadly, Bill’s not on this week. Gladly, porn is!

Boston Legal – This show is so well written. Crane and Shore are two of the most entertaining characters on television, hands down. I may have to try to catch Boston Public on whatever third rate network picked up it’s rights, just based on the strength of Kelley.

Dream Job – So after collecting a month’s worth of episodes, the roomie and I decided to watch some. Unfortunately we missed the one where Winston, aka: The Black One, got voted off. I like the show, but mostly because I enjoy watching people fail and get torn to shreds. Hopefully we can get caught up soon.

Lost – The island is in chaos. Every week I tune in, and every week I seem to care more about the backstory than the current predicament. No one trusts anyone. No one’s shagging. No one’s even grown a full beard yet. How to they all manage to keep perpetual five o’clock shadows? And why hasn’t the Asian dude grown any facial hair? And how come I watch every week, yet I still don’t know character’s names? I’m confused, but I’ll keep watching. (I’m betting that we’re going to see some brother/sister action once the ratings start to slip. Controversy = Ratings.)

The Simpsons – Oh – my -god! The theme to Perfect Strangers = Comedy Gold! I’ve decided to try to catch the Simpsons on a regular basis this season. And one day I may grace you readers with a remix to my classic Greatest TV Theme Songs column. But only if you start providing comments at the bottom on the column.

Arrested Development – This is the main reason for my watching The Simpsons, I really want to watch this show. This show has me in stitches and it cracks me up. It also (insert laughing euphemism) constantly. I rarely agree with awards shows, but the Emmy’s had this one pegged right.

The Wire – Hamsterdam is no joke. It’s a junkies dream, but a nightmare to everyone else. My roommate called this episode “Loud Mouth Broads” because Loud Mouth Broads are what’s going to be the end of the Barksdale/Bell Empire. Stringer Bell is so about to take a fall, and it ain’t going to be pretty. I fell badly because, since he’s the “bad guy” the writers had to make him fall, but realistically, he wouldn’t have hooked up with the girl of a dude he had killed. Aside from that, this show dope. What’s funny is that the Baba Jani where dude picked up the phones is around the way from where I used to live. It’s nutty I tell ya.

Greatest Television Show Ever”¦this week
Smallville – Again thanks to VCR Technology® I was able to watch two week’s episodes. That’s why this show was the best. The previous week’s episode with Mxyzptlk was like a fanboy’s dream. Plus there was that cool moment when Clark saved the day and won the game. This week’s episode had witches. My roommate dug Clark’s body. I dug the story. So basically it something for everyone.

Regularly Scheduled Column

So I was reading the news (on InsidePulse TV) last week, and I saw a mention about a show being optioned about a blog. Now my first thought was “Yes! Now I’ll finally be discovered!” But then reality quickly set in, as I realized that I’m perpetually one week away from getting this column canceled, there’s no way I could sustain a TV show.

Gee, if only I knew of some writer who was enough of a draw, not only to actually get feedback, but also enough to get voted Music Staffer of the Year. And then it hit me; Aaron Cameron.

For those of you too lazy to actually click on the link, here’s his bio;

Aaron Cameron holds it down on the Music Beat here at Inside Pulse. His Friday Music News Bootleg combines all the latest from the music world with obscure pop culture references and real-life anecdotes to produce…The Goodness.

In his first full year as an Internet Writer, Aaron was voted 2003 Music Staffer of the Year while writing for another site. The award has allowed him the opportunity to visit and inspire sick kids (as long as they don’t touch him) and afforded him a permanent spot as the fifth Wayans Brother.

Aaron also reviews rap albums for Inside Pulse and occasionally contributes brilliance on the Sports Beat, as well. He’s been married for almost two years and welcomed his son into the world on 2/7/04.

His family means everything to him, except on Thursday nights when his column needs to get done and whenever the Oakland A’s are on.

Now if that doesn’t scream “Sitcom” I don’t know what does.

The way I see it The Goodness (a working title) would be a cross between Dave’s World and A Different World with a pinch of Ed, (mostly because I’m a huge fan of Ed) and a hint of Mad About You.

The Goodnessâ„¢ would stick pretty much to real life. It would revolve around Aaron Cameron and his family life. Aaron is a new father, who is juggling fatherhood, his day job and his budding career as an net columnist, with his wife tossed in there somewhere.

If you’ve ever read The Bootleg you know that the comedic potential is there. Whether it’s Aaron dealing with Race at work or is total disregard for Gym ettiquite, Cameron is always into something. And let’s not forget about Jalen, when is criminal child neglect not funny?

The Goodnessâ„¢ could also be a drama ala Kevin Hill where Aaron has to accept the fact that he’s not “one of the guys” anymore, and now he’s a “father” which essentially strips him of all his cool points”¦forever.

Either one of those are acceptable to me. “But what about the supporting cast?” you ask. Well I’ve got that covered.

The way I see it some liberties would have to be taken with “reality.” For instance instead of the writers of InsidePulse’s Music Zone predominately coming from 411Music, they would have all written for the same college newspaper, and stayed in the same city after college. That’s the only way I can see Aaron having a solid supporting cast that plays to his strengths. Plus the cast could be described as “multicultural” “ethnic” and “diverse.”

Also Joe Reid would appear as a creature from another dimension that only Aaron could see and Kid Cameron would have superpowers and a catchphrase. (If any “network” people are reading, I’m not married to those last two ideas.)

So there you have it. After hours or research I’ve decided that Aaron Cameron is most suitable candidate to make the leap to the “larger yet still small screen.” He’s got the family values demographic. He’s got the “hip minority” demographic. Everyone enjoys music and Aaron’s got plenty of that.

Cross your fingers and hope that The Goodnessâ„¢ gets picked up. I’m working on the pilot as we spea…as you read.

Speaking of reading, I’m sure you wish you had something quality to read. Try these;

Carlos makes me wish I hadn’t turned off SNL when I realized it was a clip show.

Brian makes me wonder if that’s his real last name, and makes me regret not watching more of Tough Crowd

Didey makes me pondering reconsidering giving Showtime another chance.

Bob makes me realize I’m not alone in my lack of mail, but makes me wish I had thought of his idea first.

Coogan makes me wish I could end on a high note like he did, even referencing Frank’s Place, another one of those critically praised shows that was canceled too soon.

Oddly enough so was”¦

Three Tha Friday!?

It’s true. The Bad News; do to scheduling conflicts Three Tha Friday is no more. Sadly if we were the children of Howard and Marion Cunningham, Aaron would be Ritchie, I would be Joanie, and Joe would be Chuck, the Cunningham who just disappeared.

Aaron has had a busy week. He went on a trip and spearheaded an Eminem Epic. He also manages to tie The Golden Girls and Oz into a music column.

Joe ends his Friday appearances on an incredibly high note, most notable for his post election tirade (which I whole heartedly support.) The good news is that Friday Monday News Happy Hour debuts in just a few days. I can’t wait.

Greatest Video Ever”¦this week

Stan Bush – The Touch

This could possibly be the best soundtrack video ever. As if the song isn’t great enough, the video actually does both the song and the movie justice. It’s got Autobots and Decepticons. But most importantly it’s got Stan Bush rockin’ with his guitar. It gets no better.

Laters.
