Previously”¦Bright brags about being employee of the month and later argues with his dad about his future. Dr. Brown discusses music therapy with Amanda (Anne Heche).

Cut into Bright at working. He starts to flirt with a cute fellow employee. She is more then interested in his advances. We then see Bright’s boss notice a piece of clothing on the floor and some noises coming from the storage closest. He opens the door and”¦.you guessed it Bright and this new girl have their shirts off. GO BRIGHT!!

On that note”¦..Intro.

Down the street to Dr. Brown’s office who has a visit from Amanda and her husband. Amanda feels like the treatment isn’t working. She is very negative about all the new options Andy proposes to her. He suggests she should pick one song that is particularly meaningful, something her husband can associated with.

After Amanda leaves the office Dr. Abbott expresses his opinion that he does not approve of what Andy is doing. He thinks Andy is overly optimistic and is giving Amanda false.

Oh and since it is sweeps week its time to bring on the big guns. In this case the big guns is James Earl Jones aka Darth Vader but in this role he is playing Will Cleveland, Ephram’s piano teacher. He is playing a song for Ephram who asks him who wrote the song as he seems to like it. Will tells Ephram that he wrote the song himself and is giving the song to Ephram for his audition. Ephram is really touched by this and runs home to try out the new song.

Off to the Abbott household and the inevitable consequences of Bright’s horomones gone wild. He tells his parents he quit his job at the restaurant. His reasoning is that he thinks its time for him to get serious with his life. His parents are upset about him quitting but glad he wants to do more then be a waiter. They immediately start to come up with ideas for Bright. The audience of course knows Bright MUST have gotten fired and that in small town Everwood word will get around.

But before that happens a commercial break.

Off to the garage/music studio. Ephram is having some problems with the new song. Amy is hanging around listening trying to be supporting. Ephram thinks there is something wrong with the piece. He says that parts of it are genius but other parts are a mess. He is debating if he should use it for audition tape as he fears if he uses a weak song the other people applying will have a serious advantage over him. He decides if he is going to use the song that he has to change the weak parts of it. Amy thinks it’s a good idea and thinks Will is going to think of Ephram’s change as if they were collaborating on the song. Yeah nice try Amy. I am no musician but its obvious to me Will is not going to be impressed with Ephram messing around with his song.

Now off to the woods surrounding Everwood. Andy is on walk with Amanda and her husband. Andy complains about the snow and cold weather. Amanda has taken him to a bridge with a nice view over a creek. Amanda tells Andy her and her husband went there on several occasions and hoped coming to this spot would spark a memory. She starts to get upset and is on the verge of tears. She confesses to Andy that this is the spot where her husband proposed to her.

Ephram goes back to visit Will. He casually mentions to Will how he modified parts of the song. Will blows up at Ephram which results in Ephram asking, “How can you teach me to play if you can’t even hear me.” Yikes that is harsh.

Back to the Abbott household and Bright carrying in groceries with mom. Ms. Abbot has a found a good job opportunity for him at courthouse. Dr. Abbot asks Bright about what he will be listing for employment references. Uh..Oh”¦ we all know what is coming next. Dr. Abbott tells Bright that he knows he was fired. It seems some girl came by the house and dropped something off, its not clear if its Bright’s last cheque or not but that seems to make sense. Dr. Abbott is upset at Bright lying and the story he made up last night about how he was changing and maturing. Dr. Abbott totally goes off on Bright. Right now I am thinking Bright is gonna tell him to bugger off and move out. But before Bright can react we cut to”¦.

Amanda is playing some bad country music on the bridge. She starts to have a heart to heard with Andy and asks: “Do you think its possible to grief for someone when they are not dead?” She tells Andy she thinks it would be easier if he were gone. She complains about how she can’t be with someone physically. (Oh man she wants some Andy Brown loving.) She tells Andy her husband can’t kiss her back and she doesn’t know what she is in love with anymore.

Amanda mentions Linda and how tough Colin’s death must have been for him. Andy seems to be put off guard about how much she knows about his life. Amanda claims she asked around. She tries to connect with Andy about the issue of loneliness. Andy decides to try and change the subject. At that moment Amanda’s husband starts crying, which causes Amanda to get excited and run to him.

Back to the Brown household. Amy feels like the new conflict between Ephram and Will is all her fault. Ephram says he feels like music is just a job except when he is playing with Will. When he plays with Will things are different and it is the only time he remembers why he is so dedicated with the whole piano thing.

Now off to the local watering-hole. Andy is at the bar when Dr. Jake approaches. The attractive bartender tells him his next beer is on the house and that, “everyone is talking about what he did.” She is implying getting the reaction from Amanda’s husband. Dr. Jake also gushes about Andy’s accomplishment. Andy changes the subject and tells Jake he misses the subway. Andy says he liked the idea of just being another person. Oh the curse of genius. BAH! Andy tells Jakes he suspects it may be a cold or an allergy that cause Amanda’s husband to cry and that it may not be the miracle everyone thinks it is.

Cut to the next morning with Mrs. Abbott on the phone. Dr. Abbott walks in on what looks like a conversation about getting a job interview for Bright. She tells Harold that she has set up a job interview for Bright. Harold feels she has used her influence as mayor to get them into hiring Bright. Harold tells her she is exercising nepotism. He gets on his soapbox and says he will not approve her setting him up with this job and will not respect her if she does it. You moralistic S.O.B. ok that’s my rant for today. Short but effective.

Andy shows up at Amada’s house. Amanda has her husband’s family over to celebrate his first sign of life in 5 years. Andy tells Amanda that he doesn’t think her husband’s tears are a breakthrough. Andy believes they were caused by the new medications Andy put him on. Amanda admits that she figured nothing would change with her husband’s condition. Andy asks why she went ahead with the treatment then. Amanda says she did it for Charlie, his parents and even Dr. Brown. She tells Andy, “You’re so damn enthusiastic it just rubs off,” and that she wants him to feel success again. I think she wants him to feel a little bit more then success if you catch my drift.

Back in at the Abbott’s and Bright comes home to say he got the job. He tells his mom that he aced the interview. According to Bright the guy interviewing him has a son whom he played football with and that they spent interview talking about football. This pretty much confirms Dr. Abbott’s fears Bright would get the job not on his merits but because of nepotism. Just as this is going on Harold shows up in the background. Bright thanks this parents for believe in him. Dr. Abbott says he can thank his mother because he himself had nothing to do with it. Yikes looks like the Everwood’s perfect marriage is facing some rocky times ahead.

More of Ephram playing piano. ENOUGH ALREADY! At this point I am thinking, where is Delia? She is more interesting then Ephram lately. Will comes into Eprham’s studio/garage. He tells Ephram that he wants to hear the changes. Ephram stars to play and Will turns off volume. He tell Ephram to continue playing and to see it (the music).
Will gets Ephram to play the revised song he gave him. Will tells Ephram that he has to find a new teacher. Will has a new teacher in mind and has set up and appointment for Ephram. Ephram apologizes to Will for changing the song and asks if he can still come over and play with him. Will tells him the song was a going away present.

Notes about the show:
It featured a very limited portion of the cast. Amy is barely involved. No Delia, Nina, Debra, Irv or Hannah.
I was not too impressed with this episode. The show is getting boring and they need to do something to get it out of the rut it seems to have gotten into.
Options: Nina and Amanda cat-fight for Andy’s love. Bright introduces Hannah to first base, second base and more. Bright moves away from home. Amy gets a personality.
I think this whole thing about how Ephram is complaining about how the piano is a job and he isn’t having fun anymore is gonna be used by the writers as a way to keep Ephram from going to Julliard next year.
