WWE Smackdown for November 18th, 2004. Taped from Dayton, Ohio

We open with no video, just John Cena’s return to Smackdown. He has a new “Word Life” sweatshirt in the old Wrestlemania style writting. The champ is BACK! He says tonight he is going to win back the US title. Cena runs down Carlito for taking his title and nearly his life. Cena wonders if Carlito is man enough to go face to face with the Franchise of Smackdown. Cena raps on cutting down Carlito and Jesus. He leaves to a nice pop.

Backstage, Al Snow is with the Tough Enough kids. He gives Chris another chance to quit because of his broken rib. Al then opens the envelope and says that Chris was cut. We are down to 5 finalists at they head to the ring for this week’s challenge.

Commercial break.

The Tough Enough guys get in the ring and Al Snow announces that it is “capture the flag” contest. They kids have to grab the flag thats on the ring post, and the Bashams are standing in their way. The Miz is up first and he the Bashams quickly slam him and hold him down and his time runs out. Ryan Reeves is up next and he tries to power his way to the flag but the Bashams lock up his legs and his time runs out. Daniel Rodimer goes next and he tries a football style tackle to get through, but the Bashams lock him into the ropes. He gets another shot but Doug sticks him in a headscissors and his time runs out. Justice Smith goes next and he tries a speed technique and the Bashams tie him up with a front face lock and his time runs out. Dan Puder is the last remaining and he runs right into both Bashams and literally gets within a foot of the flag, but he doesn’t quite make it. Al announces the Basham brothers as the winners of the Tough Enough competition.

Backstage, Rey Mysterio is backstage looking for RVD when he finds Michelle from the Diva Search helping RVD stretch out in the locker room. RVD introduces her as his new personal trainer. Rey joins them in stretching and they make fun of their opponents for the night, Kenzo Suzuki and Rene Dupree. They get a tag team title shot later tonight.

Commercial break.

They recap the John Cena-Carlito Caribbean Cool feud with Carlito’s debut on Smackdown, spitting in John Cena’s face.

Backstage, Carlito and Jesus walk into Teddy Long’s office and Carlito informs Teddy that Cena injured him at Survior Series and he needs to rest for 4-6 weeks. Teddy says he doesn’t care about the doctor’s note or the x-rays and that Carlito is going to have to wrestle anyway or he is stripped of the US title. Carlito takes a bite of his apple but Teddy tells him “don’t even think about it” and Carlito walks off pissed.

Backstage, Heyman is tightening the straightjacket on Heidenreich. Heyman tells him that Survior Series was a moral victory. Heyman says he’s never seen the Undertaker stare at anyone the way did at Heidenreich. Heyman tells him to be prepared for Charlie Haas tonight. Heidenreich says lets get this over with and they walk off.

Heidenreich vs Charlie Haas
Heidenreich looks awfully….. non interested in wrestling tonight. Miss Jackie is looking mighty fine tonight as well. Haas attacks Heidenreich from behind but Heidenreich takes him down with a big boot. Heidenreich hits a nasty shoulderbreaker…. then leaves the ring. Heidenreich gets counted out and then climbs into the crowd. Heidenreich lays on the floor and cries out that he didn’t fail, that he didn’t lose. Heidenreich then curls into a ball on the floor and starts crying as we go to break.
Winner by countout – Charlie Haas

Rene Dupree & Kenzo Suzuki vs Rey Mysterio and Rob Van Dam
Kenzo and RVD start it off and they trade armbars. Kenzo kicks RVD in the chest then chops him a couple times. RVD comes right back with a couple of spinning kicks. RVD and Rey hit a double legdrop and Rey gets 2. Rey springboard flips over Kenzo and apparently legit hurts his knee. He shakes it off and hits a drop toehold on Kenzo into the ropes. Dupree trips Rey up as he goes for the 619 and pulls him to the floor. RVD makes the save on the floor and Rey springboard dropkicks Kenzo back in the ring. The faces clear the ring as we go to a commercial break.

Commercial break.

We come back with Kenzo in control on Rey, Dupree tags in and he hits a back elbow on Rey. Dupree goes up top but Rey takes him down with a rana for 2. Dupree comes right back with a flapjack. Kenzo comes back in and he hard whips Rey into the corner. Kenzo (with a very busted nose) locks Rey into a chinlock as the crowd chants USA. Rey fights out but Kenzo takes him down with a shoulderblock for 2. Dupree comes back in and dropkicks Rey right in his face for 2. Kenzo tags back in and he knees Rey in the corner then chokes him in the ropes. RVD distracts the referee on accident and Dupree chokes Rey on the ropes some more. Kenzo hits a knee drop on Rey for 2. kenzo goes into an armbar and Rey fights out but Kenzo hits a chop. Rey comes back with a back elbow and his trademark bulldog. RVD comes in and he cleans house with his educated feet. RVD takes Dupree out with a straight kick and Rey hits his seated senton on Kenzo for 2. Rey hits a splash and RVD follows it up with rolling thunder for 2. Rey dumps Dupree as RVD drop toeholds Kenzo into the ropes. Rey hits the 619 right into a ***** star frog splash from RVD for the 1-2-3!
Winners – Rey Mysterio and Rob Van Dam

More highlights from the John Cena-Carlito feud. Carlito won the US title on October 7th.

A nice video tribute and highlight package of the WWE superstars visiting the troops in the Middle East.

Kurt Angle comes out in his wrestling gear. He gets in the ring, gets on the mic and announces that since Thanksgiving is only 1 week away, he is in a giving mood. Angle has come up with the Kurt Angle invitational. Every week a local hometown boy will get a chance to wrestle Kurt Angle in front of his home fans. Angle says if anyone beats him that he will give that person his gold medal. This draws out our local talent.

Kurt Angle vs Dean Fisk
Angle quickly takes Fisk down and slaps him in the back of the head to taunt him. Angle grabs a hammerlock but Fisk counters and takes Angle down! Angle quickly pops up and smiles at the kid, clapping. Angle offers Fisk a handshake and hits the kid in the jaw when he shakes his hand! Angle stomps the hell out of the kid in the corner. Angle hits a belly to belly suplex and follows it up with an Angle Slam on Fisk. Angle locks in the ankle lock and once the kid taps out, Angle slaps on the heel hook just to be a dick.
Winner – Kurt Angle

Backstage, Orlando Jordan walks into JBL’s locker room. He find Diva Search contestant Amy Weber talking with JBL. JBL introduces his newest cabinet member, Amy. Amy is going to serve as JBL’s image consultant. JBL and Orlando walk to the ring. JBL’s victory speech is next!

They show a recap of Tedd Long informing the roster of Cena’s accident and the investigation on Carlito that followed.

Commercial break.

JBL and Orlando Jordan come out in the longhorn limo. He has a big smile on his face as he kisses the title belt. JBL gets in the ring and grabs the microphone. ONE PERSON IS CHANTING JBL!!!! JBL doesn’t need a swing state like Ohio because he is on a roll! JBL compares himself to Michael Jordan. He calls Eddy, Taker, and Booker T as great wrestlers, but they will be forgotten because they were around in the JBL era. JBL says that people in the crowd tonight will tell their kids and grandkids that they got to see JBL in person. JBL says the economy has been up since he has been champion! JBL says there has no been 1 major terrorist attack since he has been champion. JBL isn’t just good for wrestling, good for UPN, good for sports entertainment, HE IS GOOD FOR AMERICA! What a great speech! Booker T comes out and says he never say Michael Jordan’s houseboy help him win the title in the NBA. Booker T wants a rematch right here TONIGHT. Now Eddy Guererro comes out in his orange lowrider and a SWANK black shirt. Eddy says he is sick and tired of hearing how great JBL is at his expense. Eddy has not forgotten what JBL did to his mom and to the entire Smackdown community. Eddy reminds him who was champion before him. Eddy says its time to get the title back around Latino Heat’s waist. Eddy and Booker argue over who should get the next rematch with JBL. THE LIGHTS GO OUT! THE GONGS HIT! The Undertaker comes out and walks slowly to the ring. Taker brings the lights back up with his arms. Taker makes the “arms around the waist” sign and points at the title. JBL and Orlando bail out of the ring and JBL says he doesn’t care if he has to speak Spanish, hip-hop, or monster, but none of them are ever getting a rematch with him. Teddy Long comes out and he agrees with JBL, none of them are getting an individual title shot. However, JBL WILL have to face ALL THREE of them in a fatal four way match for the WWE title at Armageddon! JBL freaks out as we go to a commercial break.

Commercial break.

The 5 remaining Tough Enough kids come out and plead their cases to the live crowd and the TV audience. Puder gets the biggest pop of them all, but none of them really do anything of note.

Backstage, Diva search contestant Joy is trying to massage Carlito’s shoulder when he winces and flips out on her. She is Smackdown’s new massage therapist, but Carlito dismisses her for going too hard on his shoulder. Carlito and Jesus look worried before the big main event.

They recap Carlito joining Angle’s Survior Series team and being chased off by John Cena.

Commercial break.

United States Championship – Carlito Caribbean Cool (c) vs John Cena
Carlito comes out with some heavily wrapped bandages on his legit injured shoulder. Cena comes out and charges straight into the ring. Cena lariats the hell out of Jesus and sends him into the ring post. Cena attacks Carlito on the outside and beats the shit out of him, sending him SHOULDER FIRST into the ring post! Jesus comes after Cena with a chair but Cena tackles him and takes him down with several punches to the face. Cena then grabs the steel chair and hits Carlito in the shoulder with it! Carlito starts sreaming in pain as Cena rolls him into the ring. Cena spits Carlito’s own apple into his face and hits him with the FU for the clean 1-2-3.
Winner and NEW United States Champion – John Cena

Postmatch, Cena looks to take back his steel chain but Jesus attacks Cena from behind and punches him in his “injured” kidney! Jesus grabs the steel chain and punches Cena directly in injured kidney! Jesus puts the chain back on Carlito’s neck and helps him to the back as they do the full on stretcher job for John Cena. The show abruptly cuts off with Cena being wheeled away on the stretcher.

End of Show.
