Variety reports that Hideo Kojima, creator of the “Metal Gear Solid” videogame series, has held off from selling the game’s film rights until now.
“Things one can express in a game are different of those in a movie,” says Kojima. “It would have to be a very different script, almost a different story.”
The game’s distributor, Konami, has sold 14.63 million units of the first two games worldwide, with the recently released third game expected to do well in sales as well. No word on whether or if any studios have placed any bids for the rights yet.
