The Rocky Mountain News is reporting that a new character is being sought for Pirates of the Caribbean 2 and Pirates of the Caribbean 3, which will both begin shooting this February. Johnny Depp, Orlando Bloom, and Keira Knightley will be reprising their roles from the first movie, with Gore Verbinski back as director and Jerry Bruckheimer producing again as well.
The new character in question ‘doesn’t have to be beautiful’, according to the paper’s source. The character is that of Tia Dalma, a “jewelry-covered gypsy queen with tattoos, dreadlocks and clairvoyant powers.”
The first “Pirates” sequel is expected to be released in 2006.
