Screen Gems announced the return of two “deceased” characters for their upcoming sequel Underworld 2, currently filming in Vancouver.

Actors Michael Sheen and Shane Brolly are signed on to reprise their roles of Werewolf Lucian and Vampire Kraven, for “origins” scenes set to take place during the middle-ages.

They will join returning stars Kate Beckinsale, Scott Speedman, and Bill Nighy , as well as veteran actor Derek Jacobi who will embody elder Markus.

Dimension Films announced a few straight-to-video outings for some of their darker franchises, including The Crow: Wicked Prayer, which until now was scheduled to have a theatrical run.

Starring Edward Furlong as the fourth avenger, the story concerns a mad biker who tries to complete a ritual to turn himself into an immortal demon, until his latest victim resuscitates and fights back. David Boreanaz, Dennis Hopper and Tara Reid co-star.

The movie will be accompanied on store shelves by Hellraiser: Hellworld and The Prophecy 4, all out around February 2005

Comedian Steve Coogan has just signed on to join Kirsten Dunst and Jason Schwartzman in the historical drama Marie Antoinette, about the ill-fated French Queen who offered the famous quote “Let Them Eat Cake”. Coogan plays an Austrian Ambassador, while Dunst and Schwartz will be the headless royals.

Rising director Sofia Coppola will adapt the biographical novel by Antonia Frasers. Coppolla Senior will produce under his American Zoetrope banner.

Paul Giamatti has just signed on an upcoming romantic comedy entitled Paper Man for FilmColony.

Directed by screenwriters Michele and Kieran Mulroney, the movie will follow the struggle of a down-on-his-luck writer who must cope with divorce, lack of inspiration for his new novel, and an imaginary superhero friend that stuck to him since childhood. A chance reunion with his high-school sweet heart might just help him back on his feet.

The actor is already at work on Fox’s Robots, and will also provide voicing for Warner’s upcoming Ant Bully, about a kid shrunk down to the size of the ants he used to torture.

Vanity Fair has offered the first look at Actor Joaquin Phoenix as Johnny Cash, for upcoming bio pic Walk The Line.

From Identity director James Mangold, the movie will chronicle Cash’s life from his youngster years in a Arkansas cotton farm, until his rise to fame alongside Elvis, at Sun Records. Reese Witherspoon co-stars as June Carter Cash.

Still in production, Walk The Line should hit theatres next June. In the mean time, get on over to Vanity Fair for the Cash images.
