– Christian Bale has just signed to play the hero in a new film titled Harsh Times. The film will be a dark comedy that follows the adventures of a Marine returning from his tour of duty in Iraq. As he attempts to pick up the pieces of his life and re-adjust to a civilian lifestyle, he gets caught up in a crisis faced by an old friend with criminal ways.
The film marks the directorial debut of David Ayer, who wrote the screenplay for Training Day. Freddy Rodriguez (Six Feet Under) and Eva Longario (Desperate Housewives) fill out the cast so far.

– Variety reports that Nicole Kidman will star in Wedding Season for Paramount Pictures.
Valerie Breiman will adapt the novel of the same name by Darcy Cosper. It tells the story of a cynical woman and a longtime boyfriend who are dedicated to remaining unmarried, but question that strategy as they attend 17 weddings over a six-month span.
Robert Evans is producing with Tatijana Shoan and Elizabeth Costa.
