This is what I have been waiting for. I was so delighted when I found out Chuck Dixon was going to be writing this book. It seemed nothing less than perfect to me. I am certainly Dixon-biased, but this issue did not disappoint at all.

I have been bummed out by the series up until now. It fell short of expectations, being simply was not as good as it could have been. But now, that has all changed (as Dixon writes on the final page too!).

See, Beachhead was left stranded on Hawaii (or, Cobra Island), so we have this whole issue to get caught up with him. This was an incredibly well paced issue with a lot of great action, and great character moments. It was a welcome change of pace, as the previous issues were very sprawled out and seemingly unfocused. I learned more about the characters in this one issue (where virtually none appeared) than in the other 9 issues up to now.

This issue had great drama with a terrific sense of fun, which is what drew me to GI Joe in the first place 2 decades ago.

There isn’t much else I can say about it. Reading a review comprised simply of praise can get dull, so please, just go out and get the issue, ok?
