News on Cock & Bull, The Battle of Fallujah, and Bronze God

Variety reports that Sarah Polley and Chris O’Donnell will star in a film adaptation of Cock & Bull, based on the book by Will Self.

Matt Nix will direct the film and calls it “a dark comedy about an ordinary middle-class woman who, while in a stifling marriage to an alcoholic husband, transforms into a man.”

Variety also reports that Harrison Ford is set to play one of the main characters in the first major film about the war in Iraq.

The movie will be based on the true-life upcoming book No True Glory: The Battle for Fallujah, due to be published next May. Ford will play Jim Mattis, the general who led the US assault on Fallujah following the murder of four Americans.

The book was written by Slate reporter Bing West. He will co-write the screenplay with his son Owen.

Will Ferrell may join Bronze God, a project that Sony/Columbia Pictures is looking to get off the ground by hiring Alex Gregory and Peter Huyck (TV’s The Late Show w/David Letterman) to pen the screenplay.

Ferrell would play a lifeguard who realizes his dream by securing a wildcard entry into a beach volleyball tournament.
