In local NYC area advertising during tonight’s “Best of 2004” RAW, it was announced that the January 3, 2005 RAW taping at Nassau Coliseum (Uniondale, Long Island) will feature a nontelevised main event of Randy Orton vs. HHH with Shawn Michaels as the special guest referee.
Other ads plugged the upcoming WWE RAW “Road to Wrestlemania 21” house show at Madison Square Garden on Friday, February 25, 2005 that will feature a special appearance by Superstar Billy Graham, HHH vs. Randy Orton vs. Batista in a Triple Threat match, and Ric Flair vs. Shawn Michaels in a rematch from the classic December 2003 house show match at MSG that I attended. During the match, the two legends played to the crowd perfectly, wrestling to a time limit draw, until Flair begged acting authority figure Jonathan Coachman to add 5 minutes to the match, which HBK won with a superkick.
The Orton/Batista/Helmsley triple threat poses interesting implications for Wrestlemania 21, possibly foreshadowing a match previously predicted by InsidePulse’s Jonathan Widro.
