FAN JAM A SUCCESS, BACKSTAGE A MESS – EVAN KARAGIAS FIRED!

On the heels of a successful inaugural FAN JAM late this fall, President Dale Gagne has made it public that Evan Karagias has been fired from the AWA, stripped of the title he held twice in two years and released of his contract.

A number of events led to this difficult decision, which was made easy by Evan’s actions”, stated Gagne. Evan’s relationship with the AWA began to become rocky earlier in 2004 when Karagias started making unreasonable demands, even as his popularity diminished. Numerous new affiliates of the AWA also questioned Evan representing the biggest prize in Professional Wrestling. The final “blow” came when the AWA learned of Evan’s relationship with the new federation, FUSHION, rumored to be associated with Rob Feinstein, a former owner of ROH. The AWA’s many assumptions were true and FUSHION’S inagural event was anything but a success.

General Manager Nick Bockwinkel now has the task of naming a new AWA World Heavyweight Champion. Bockwinkel has recently been contacted by “The Living Legend” Larry Zybyzko, who is claiming since he never lost the AWA World Heavyweight Title, that he still is the “real” World Champion. Currently, the AWA sanctioned ZERO-ONE MAX is holding a tournament to name the number one contender for the World Championship. Details on a new Champion will be posted right here at www.awastars.com.
