Terminal Velocity- The WWE Velocity Report 01.15.05

Archive

Well, I’m back from my little hiatus, and I what a show to come back to, as tonight we got to see the ‘Akio/London’ rematch. Gonna keep this monologue short and sweet and get right into the action.

WWE Velocity- January 15th, 2005

-We open up right away with hardcore Holly making his entrance. I think I speak for everyone when I say ‘yessssssss’. Or not. Also, tonight we’ll see the return on Scotty 2 Hotty.

-Spike Dudley vs. Hardcore Holly. Spike intimidates Hardcore, then slaps him. Hardcore throws Spike, then does his ‘Hang up on ropes boot to gut” that sends Spike to the outside. Spike tries to run, but gets caught. He slips out of a slam and does his little headbutt to gut move. Holly sent into the turnbuckle. Back in, pounding, and Spike unravels the wrist tape and starts with the choking. Haadkow powers out, but Spike gets right back on him, getting his legs wrapped around. Holly stands up, then snapmares Spike off. Off the ropes, big dropkick by Holly, followed by a bunch of chops. Spike rakes the eyes, but gets punched in the face and hit with more chops. Holly misses a charge into the corner, but catches Spike when Spike tries a cross body from the top rope. From this position, Holly maneuvers Spike into Alabama Slam territory, and nails that move to win this match. **.

-Still tonight, Charlie Haas vs. Rene Dupree. I see that in my absence Dupree decided he needed to grow some facial hair.

-Up next, Kenzo/Cena recap.

-Back on Velocity, we get a recap of Cena’s lame squash of Kenzo on SmackDown.

-Still to come, the Angle/Big Show/JBL saga from SmackDown.

-WrestleMania Recall: Hogan drops the leg and defeats Sergeant Slaughter.

-WWE Rewind: The Bashams winning the WWE Tag Titles.

-Scotty 2 Hotty vs. YOUR Velocity Jobber, Chet Jablowski. Lockup, armdrag by CJ, and some showin’ off. Lockup, Scotty taken into the corner. CJ with kicks and punches, and some showing off. This match opens up the perfect opportunity for me to go take a leak. When I get back, Scotty has kipped up, ducks a clothesline, and hits some shots. He comes off the ropes with a big forearm, but CJ sends him face first into the middle turnbuckle. Shot by Jablowski, but Scotty reverses a whip and sends CJ into the corner. Scotty with the Two Handed Bulldog of Death, followed by the W-O-R-M. Falling One Handed Doom Chop Straight from Hell finishes this. From what I saw, wasn’t any better than the Holly match. **/

-Still to come, Haas vs. Dupree.

-Slam of the Week: Funaki defeating Nunzio.

-Back on Velocity, London makes his entrance, sliding fully across the ring and out the other end. Niiiice.

-Paul London vs. Bald Akio. Lockup, armdrag by Akio. Lockup, Akio taken into the ropes, which transitions into London being taken into the corner. Push by London. Lockup, headlock by Akio, London reverses to headlock, Akio reverses again. Akio gets sent to the ropes, rebounds with a shoulderblock that takes London down. London with a back heel trip, headlock on the ground. Back up, London gets the Dropsault to send Akio out of the ring. London fires up, tries a Pescado, sees Akio trying to do something, stops the Pescado, and hits an Asai Moonsault instead. Back in the ring, he gets a slingshot bodysplash for 2. Into the corner, London backflips over the top rope, but Akio overhead belly-belly suplexes him right into the corner, which looked sick, as London lands on his head. Sleeper applied by Akio. London fights out, but Akio stops him with a shot. London with a kick, but misses an Enziguri. Shots by Akio, and a standing moonsault. Akio locks on a camel clutch. Stomping by Akio. London whipped into the corner, Akio runs and hits his Backflip Dropkick thing, but London hits a sidekick. Both men down. Shots by Akio, but London pays him back and goes wild with shots. Back body drop by London, more shots, and a side heel kick for a 2 count. Akio gets sent into the corner. London charges, and runs into an elbow. Akio leaps to the top rope, and comes down with a corkscrew moonsault to pick up the deuce. Apparently, the corkscrew is now called the ‘Akio Time’. It’s friggin’ Yang Time, dammit. Afterwards, both men shake hands. ****.

-Up next, Angle/JBL/Show recap from SmackDown.

-Recap of the previous weeks happenings involving Big Show, Kurt Angle, and JBL. Kurt apologizes to Joy; Joy gets in a fight with Amy, match is set up; Joey goes missing, we assume a member of the Cabinet was responsible; Big Show gets pissed, intimidates Orlando Jordan; Big Show interrupts JBL’s award ceremony after Joy is found in JBL’s limo trunk; Show destroys the Cabinet; it’s revealed that Kurt Angle was behind it all.

-Up next, haas/Dupree.

-Charlie Haas vs. Rene Dupree, accompanied by Fifi and Evil Facial Hair. Headlock by Haas. Off the ropes, Haas with a shoulderblock, taking down Dupree. Haas with another, sends Dupree outside, where Steve says Dupree’s ‘flopping around’. How apropos. Haas takes Dupree back in, arm wrench, and an arm lock. Haas gets a USA chant going. Dupree with a closed fist, and some shots. Haas into the corner hard. Dupree rakes the face with his foot. Snapmare by Dupree, knee drop gets 2. Rear chinlock locked on. Haas back to his feet, but gets pulled back down. Dupree goes up top, but takes too much time, and Haas jumps up and armdrags him off the top. Both men down. Back up, they both exchange shots. Haas with an inverted atomic drop, dropkick, back body drop, and 2 clotheslines. Haas misses a splash into the corner, and Dupree sees it fit to French Tickle. He tries the Michinoku Driver, but Haas slips out and hits a T-Bone for the win. Wow, Haas was looking a but like Shelton Benjamin tonight, what with the splash attempt and Suplex/powerslam finisher. ** ¾.

-My Thoughts: Velocity sucks without Demott…. But Akio/London was great.
