The Rock has apparently been lobbying to face Sting at WrestleMania 21 so he could be part of a “special match.” Of course now it appears that he and Vince McMahon are having issues over a new contract. Some believe it’s Vince McMahon showing Rocky that he doesn’t “need” him now that he has Steve Austin back in the fold. At this point though, don’t expect Rock at WrestleMania 21 barring a reconciliation of some sort. There is no word at this time if there is any alternate plan for Sting at WM21 if Rock isn’t part of the show.
According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Rock’s contract expired on December 31, 2004, and negotiations are still ongoing.
